This painting and the Chinese Peony Flowers were done as a pair. The Chinese Kingfisher is a brilliant green and can often be heard and seen flitting across water ponds full of floating water lily blossoms. Lotus blossoms raise their heads around the pond edges. The Chinese characters read: "The source of all water comes from the Heavenly Father above".
